Day 1 - Arrive in Las Vegas 

Las Vegas has to be seen to be believed! It keeps on growing and new and unique hotels and resorts open year on year. Even if trying your luck in one of the casinos is not for you, Las Vegas offers something for everyone with world class entertainment, great shopping and dining, amazing themed hotels, golf courses, tennis and a host of attractions such as the Liberace Museum, the Lied Children's Discovery Museum, Las Vegas Art Museum and the Las Vegas Natural History Museum. With more than 320 days of sunshine and only around 10cm of rain a year, Las Vegas makes a perfect getaway whatever you are looking for.

Day 3 - Collect your hire car and drive to Tonopah, approx. 210 miles. 

En-route take a drive through Death Valley or stop at Rhyolite, one of Nevada’s numerous ghost towns. Tonopah is the site of one of the West’s biggest silver strikes in 1900. Explore the Historic Mining Park where you can see the actual mines that created the town.

Day 4 - Drive to Reno, approx. 240 miles. 

Head north from Tonopah to Hawthorne, known as America’s most patriotic town, and then along the shores of Walker Lake to Fallon, home of the famous Top Gun Flight School. Reno has been nicknamed of the ‘Biggest Little City in America’! Try the downtown white-water kayak course or if spectator sports are more your thing, stroll the Riverwalk area. Browse the boutiques and shops or enjoy the entertainment in the numerous bars, restaurants and casinos. Within easy reach of Reno are Lake Tahoe, Virginia City, Pyramid Lake and Carson City, Nevada’s Capital.

Day 6 - Drive to Winnemucca, approx. 165 miles.

Today’s journey takes you to the alluring and mysterious Black Rock Desert where you can experience some off-grid solitude in some truly stunning landscapes. This vast landscape is comprised of 1.2 million acres of national conservation area and national wilderness area, with some of the most rugged canyons, pristine hot springs, and expansive dry lake beds or “playa” features in the state. It is also home to the annual Burning Man Festival. 

From Black Rock Desert, head to Winnemucca which boasts of being the “Friendliest Town” in the Silver State. The scenic outdoor opportunities, vibrant cowboy culture and fascinating local history, as well as hearty local cuisine keep visitors coming back year after year.

Day 7 - Drive to Eureka, approx. 90 miles. 

Eureka, Highway 50 – the Loneliest Road in America – prides itself on being the ‘Friendliest Town on the Loneliest Road’! It’s a lovely small town with many beautifully restored historic buildings, including the Eureka Opera House, County Court House and Sentinel Museum. One of the other great highlights of Eureka is the great outdoors – hiking, biking and fishing all abound in the area.

Day 8 - Drive to Ely, approx. 80 miles

At the eastern end of Highway 50, Ely is a graceful mining town where vintage buildings have been revitalised through a city-wide mural project. More than 25 murals decorate the town, providing a glimpse of Ely’s colourful and ethnically diverse history, which included the Spanish, French, Italian, Slavic, Asian and Greek.

Enjoy a visit to the Nevada Northern Railway and Museum where you can take a trip on the Ghost Train – an early 20th Century mining railroad. Take a trip to Great Basin National Park, where you can take a guided tour of the underground passages at Lehman Caves or hike to Bristlecone Forest, where some of the ancient trees are nearly 3000 years old. Known for its high mountain terrain, the park boasts cascading mountain streams, Alpine lakes and even a small glacier.

Day 9 - Drive to Mesquite, approx. 245 miles

Located only 80 miles north of Las Vegas, Mesquite is nestled in the picturesque Virgin River Valley surrounded by scenic vistas and flat-top red mesas. You will find some larger resorts and a selection of championship golf-courses, yet Mesquite retains a friendly small town atmosphere, and gives you access to plenty of outdoor recreation and state parks. Discover more of the area’s history at the Lost City Museum or Virgin Valley Museum.

Day 10 - Drive to Page, approx. 190 miles

On the edge of Lake Powell, this town overlooks the crystal clear lake and boasts beautiful views. There are plenty of photo opportunities around here with Tower Butte, Rainbow Bridge National Monument, the Rim Trail and Glen Canyon Dam. A boat trip on the lake is a must as well as a tour to Antelope Canyon, part of the Navajo Nation, to discover more about the mysterious and haunting beauty of the slot canyons there. If these adventures aren’t for you, you can play golf or relax on a lakeside beach.

Day 12 - Drive to the Grand Canyon, approx. 135 miles

Head to one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the Grand Canyon. Enjoy touring the rim and stopping at the various look out points, or take a sightseeing flight over the rim to get the full perspective of this amazing site. The Visitor’s Center will provide you with trail maps and hiking details, information on sunrise and sunset, bike rentals and current ranger programmes, as well as detailed information on the geology, flora and fauna of this spectacular National Park.

Stay two nights at Grand Canyon South Rim

Day 14 - Drive to Kingman, approx. 175 miles

The 1950's and 1960's were the heyday of Route 66, and fueled the Kingman economy with a continuous flow of travellers. Today the area continues to be popular with travellers, but offers a wealth of activities and attractions, aside from the popular Route 66 history. Play golf, visit wineries, mountain bike or hike, take a trip to the Hoover Dam, or learn more about the impact of the ‘Mother Road’ a the Arizona Route 66 Museum.

Stay one night in Kingman

Day 15 - Return to Las Vegas, approx. 110 miles.
