Stay one night in Hartford.

Day 2 - Drive to the White Mountains, NH, approx. 230 miles
Don’t miss a trip up Mount Washington, either by car or the cog railway. Outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and rafting abound here, as well as golf and tax free shopping at the factory outlets in North Conway. The area is dotted with small villages and towns and is well known for its beautiful scenery, covered bridges and quaint shops. A short drive away, will bring you to the Lakes region and Lake Winnipesaukee, where the film 'On Golden Pond' was set.

Stay three nights in the White Mountains.

Day 5 - Drive to the Green Mountains, VT, approx. 210 miles
In the autumn, Vermont might not be quite as green as it is in the spring and summer, but the Green Mountains will be awash with colour. Journey past rivers and waterfalls, stop in towns and villages with white picket fences and covered bridges. Savour local produce in roadside cafes, or fine dining restaurants and shop to your heart’s content in antique shops, boutiques and factory outlets.

Stay three nights in Southern Vermont’s Green Mountains.

Day 8 - Drive to the Berkshires, approx. 70 miles
Home to many picturesque villages and rolling hills, the Berkshires are renowned for autumn colours, but are beautiful regardless of the season. The serenity and remoteness of the Berkshires attracted artists and authors including Melville, Hawthorne and famous illustrator Norman Rockwell and a visit to the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge is well worthwhile. Visit the Berkshire Botanical Gardens, a botanical collection, laid out as a series of garden rooms in a woodland setting. The collections emphasise plants that are indigenous to, or thrive in, the Berkshires. The Mahican – Mohawk Recreation Trail follows the corridor of the historic Native American path along the Deerfield River, and offers a fabulous opportunity to see Fall Foliage.

Stay three nights in the Berkshires.

Day 11 - Return to Hartford, approx. 90 miles and drop-off your car in time to check in for your flight home.
