Dating back to the 1800s, Circle Bar Ranch is an historic 520-acre guest ranch sitting at 5,000 feet in the foothills of the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. Set among the Judith River Headwaters and the Little Belt Mountains - country once ridden by celebrated western artist Charlie Russell - it's a genuine slice of the American West in the heart of Montana.

Accommodation ranges from cosy lodge rooms and riverside log cabins to the Ranch House, a spacious self-contained property sleeping up to eight, ideal for larger groups or families. No two cabins are alike, each with its own character and décor. The lodge also has a hot tub and recreation room for downtime between adventures.

All meals are served in the Lodge dining room. Breakfast leans into American classics - pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos - with lighter continental options alongside. Lunch is hearty and filing, and evenings bring cocktails by the fire before dinner: expect steaks, pork chops, pasta, fresh trout and more, with a wood-burning fireplace setting the scene on cooler nights.

Horse riding is the heart of the ranch experience - whether loping across open Montana pastures, heading into the mountains, or learning to sort cattle. Beyond the saddle, guests can hike, fish, swim, try archery and clay shooting, or go potholing in the area's caves. A visit to nearby Sapphire Village offers the chance to hunt for the gemstone itself, a uniquely Montana adventure.
