Illinois

Illinois is located in the heart of the USA in the Great Lakes region and has something to offer for everyone. Illinois’ largest city, Chicago, is a great holiday destination at any time of year and is known as ‘America’s Favourite City’. Situated on Lake Michigan, with 29 miles of lakefront, including sandy beaches and cycle paths, Chicago also boasts breath-taking architecture, world-class shopping, wonderful museums and theatres, gourmet restaurants and fantastic nightlife.

Illinois makes a perfect fly-drive destination, and you can take to the road and explore scenic byways, lush vineyards and weaving networks of lakes and rivers. It is the 24th largest state and it is bordered on three sides by water. Throughout Illinois you will find distinctive towns, unique shops and attractions as well as farm-to-table dining and craft breweries and distilleries. If you’re looking for true Americana you’ll certainly find it on the legendary Route 66. The Mississippi River forms the border on the western side of Illinois, and you’ll find charming river towns, steamboats, sprawling vineyards and the great outdoors! Return to a time of simplicity and American values along the Meeting of the Great Rivers National Scenic Byway where the Mighty Mississippi, Missouri, and Illinois Rivers converge.

America As You Like It can tailor make an itinerary to suit your individual requirements, throughout Illinois and the Great Lakes Region, or including the rest of Route 66.
