Day 1 Fly from the UK via Dublin to Cleveland
Land in Cleveland and simply collect your baggage on arrival, after having cleared customs and immigration before leaving Dublin.
Head into the city and check-in to your downtown hotel for four nights. Enjoy a late dinner in one of the many restaurants.
Day 2 Music and the Arts
Spend your day exploring the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame which showcases artists and musicians from around the world. Discover more about legendary artists, groundbreaking music and the cultural impact of rock and roll. With permanent and rotating exhibits, there is always so much to experience, with plenty of hands-on and interactive exhibits, awe-inspiring memorabilia and the Hall of Fame itself.
Then take in a show in the theatre district – Playhouse Square – the largest performing arts centre in the USA, outside of New York City.
Day 3 Arts and Culture
Head to University Circle today, either a short taxi or bus ride from the downtown area. Once you are there, you can use the free shuttles around the area, or enjoy some fresh-air and walk between the different venues. Known as Ohio’s most spectacular square mile, University Circle encompasses more than 30 institutions of art, culture, education, entertainment and medicine. The area is home to the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Museum of Natural History and the Cleveland Botanical Gardens.
Being home to a variety of students you’ll find plenty outside the museums and cultural attractions as well, with shopping, dining and nightlife throughout the area.
Day 4 Outdoor Adventure and Sports
‘The Land’ as its affectionately known, boast plenty of green space and so outdoor activities abound. Check-out the ‘Emerald Necklace’ and the eight lakefront parks, 18 reservations and over 100 hiking trails of the award-winning Cleveland Metroparks system. Enjoy manicured gardens at the Holden Arboretum and Cleveland Cultural Gardens, or get out on Lake Erie and paddleboard, kayak, sail or even swim! Or just sip a cocktail from the lakeshore and people-watch! The Cuyahoga River feeds into the Cuyahoga Valley National Park to the south of the city, and you’ll find plenty more outdoor recreation there too.
Cleveland is home to several professional sports teams so depending on the season, you may be able to catch a game. The Cleveland Browns may be hard to get tickets for but whether home or away, the bars of the city are full of game-day atmosphere. The Cleveland Cavs are the city’s basketball team and watching the baseball at the Guardians on a summer evening is a true Americana experience.
Day 5 Neighbourhoods
It may be your final day, but there’s still plenty of time to check-out some of Cleveland’s neighbourhoods before heading back to the airport for your evening flight home. Do some last-minute shopping in Tremont where you’ll find tree-lined streets surrounding boutique shops and art galleries. Then head to Ohio City and West Side Market - Cleveland’s largest and oldest public market selling local fresh produce, baked goods etc and great place to grab brunch or lunch.
