The Shores of New Jersey

Beaches as far as the eye can see, with water activities, lighthouses, roadside produce stands, fishing, birdwatching and more, you can be as laid-back or as active here as you like. All that, and then Atlantic City as well!

Long Beach Island alone has 16 dedicated surfing beaches, and of course there’s the opportunity to relax with nothing but a towel between yourself and the white sand. Millions of guests stroll, ride a bicycle, or tour the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, in a rolling chair or tram car.

Fishing and bird watching are available at Island Beach State Park in Seaside Heights. Whilst at Cape May try spotting whales and dolphins or visiting Cape May Bird Observatory. Take in the views at New Jersey Pinelands National Reserve, near Atlantic City or glimpse bald eagles and great blue herons at Wharton State Forest and Batsto Village in nearby Hammonton.

Whilst Atlantic City boasts New Jersey’s tallest lighthouse, you can tour the historic lighthouse at Cape May, for expansive views and maritime history. Cape May is the oldest resort in the country and the entire city is a National Historic District, with nearly 600 preserved Victorian buildings.

If you’re looking for more 21st Century excitement, try the thrill rides at Six Flags Great Adventure & Safari in Jackson. Water parks in the area let you slip and slide your way to fun and the Silverball Museum Arcade in Asbury Park can’t be beaten for pinball lovers.

You will find Jersey-fresh fruits and vegetables at rustic roadside stands and in restaurants, as well as fresh fish, food from around the globe as well as wineries, breweries and distilleries.
