Day 1 - Fly to Pittsburgh on British Airways direct flight.
On arrival transfer to your downtown hotel for four nights on room only. Enjoy dinner at one of city’s many eclectic restaurants.

Day 2
Start your day with breakfast at Pamela's Diner one of Pittsburgh’s favourite delis located on the strip district and then learn about the city on a 2 hour river cruise. The city is built on three rivers – the Allegheny, Monogahela and Ohio Rivers and the narrated river cruise will help you focus on the places you would wish to see during your stay.

We suggest a Walk the Burgh Tour in the afternoon which shows off the beauty of Pittsburgh’s buildings in intricate detail or take a two hour Segway tour.

For dinner take the Duquesne Incline up to the top of Mount Washington and dine in one of the popular restaurants with magnificent city views. The Duquesne Incline is a cable car which used to be taken by workers getting to and from the iron and steel works when this was an industrial city.

Day 3
Enjoy a visit to the Andy Warhol Museum where you can experience the Pittsburgh-born artist’s art and archives. The museum has seven floors and an underground studio in a transformed industrial warehouse. Regular tours are held and you will also want to explore on your own.

In the afternoon visit the Frick Pittsburgh’s Art Museum which houses fine and decorative art collected by Helen Clay Frick, daughter of Pittsburgh industrialist Henry Clay Frick.  The romantic Frick estate includes the family mansion, a Car and Carriage Museum with Frick’s car and carriage collection from the turn of the 20th century, gardens and greenhouse.
Day 4
Visit the Senator John Heinz History Center (yes Heinz came from Pittsburgh) and enjoy this wonderful museum which shows the history and life in Western Pennsylvania together with a fascinating exhibition about the 145 years of the H.J. Heinz Company showing how the Heinz family business began with eight-year old Henry John Heinz selling produce from his mother’s garden in Sharpsburg and grew to a worldwide company with more than 5,700 products in 200 countries around the world.

Afternoon – Visit the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens which encompass 15 acres including an historic 14-room glasshouse and 23 distinct indoor and outdoor gardens. Phipps has stunning seasonal flower shows, exclusive art exhibits, renowned orchid and bonsai collections and an immersive Tropical Forest. Alternatively, take out one of the bicycles or a cycle tour or hike in one of the parks. There is no tax on shopping in Pennsylvania and there are many areas to choose from – The Waterfront in Homestead with more than 50 retailers in its towering brick smokestacks that mark the site of the former US Steel Works, the Stripe or visit one of the outlet malls. One of the most interesting visits would be a tour the Carrie Blast Furnace which was declared a National Historic Landmark in 2006. You will be guided through this industrial landmark learning about the iron-making process and hearing about the technology, workers and their culture.

Day 5
No trip to Pittsburgh would be complete without a visit to the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History – they are next to each other and one ticket serves both.

The Carnegie Museum (formed by another Pittsburgh industrialist) has more than 30,000 pieces of art and the Natural History Museum home to the world’s third-largest dinosaur repository.

In the beautiful wooded mountains of the Laurel Highlands an absolute must is to visit to Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterpiece, Falling Water which is in a beautiful location with its original furnishings and artwork. Your day would not be complete without a visit to Kentuck Knob, another stunning house built by Frank Lloyd Wright which is now owned by Lord Palumbo. Golfers can enjoy a round at Seven Springs Mountain Resort which also has an excellent spa. Ohio Pile close to Falling Water has fantastic white water rafting on class 2 and 3 rapids.
