St. Louis
St. Louis is a city where history, music and iconic landmarks come together on the western banks of the Mississippi River. The unmistakable Gateway Arch dominates the skyline, celebrating the city's role as the Gateway to the West and offering spectacular views across the river. Enjoy a replica paddlewheel cruise on the Mississippi, visit the historic Anheuser Busch Brewery to see the famous Budweiser Clydesdale horses, walk or cycle across the Chain of Rocks Bridge on the legendary Route 66, or soak up the atmosphere in the Soulard district, renowned for its barbecue restaurants and live blues music.
The city is home to an outstanding collection of free, family friendly attractions, many of which are located within Forest Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world. Larger than New York's Central Park, it is home to the Saint Louis Zoo, the Saint Louis Art Museum and several other leading attractions, making St. Louis an excellent choice for those looking to experience more while spending less. Just outside the city, Meramec Caverns offers guided tours through spectacular underground caves and is one of the most famous stops along historic Route 66.
St. Louis combines history, music, culture and innovation with a welcoming atmosphere and excellent value. The National Blues Museum celebrates the genre that helped shape modern American music, while sporting events, public art and diverse neighbourhoods offer something for all interests. No visit is complete without stopping at the legendary Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, a St. Louis institution on Route 66. From 19 April 2026, British Airways launched a new summer seasonal service from London Heathrow, operating four times a week, making it even easier for UK travellers to discover St. Louis and the American Midwest.
