Film Locations to Visit Around the USA!

America As You Like It • 30 September 2019

There are many films which have been filmed all around the USA and many will include your all time favourites! Take a look at the film locations below and see if any of your favourites come up. If you love these films, you will love visiting the places they are set.

1. Kauai, Hawaii - Jurassic Park

The Hawaiian Island Kauai was chosen to be the set for the Jurassic Park series. All three of the films have been filmed here. The series has attracted many tourists to the Island where you can go on jeep and helicopter tours showing the different areas of filming. For example, you can visit Hoopli Falls, the Hanapepe Valley and the National Tropical Botanical Gardens where the hatched raptor eggs are first unearthed.

2. Baltimore, Maryland – Hairspray

John Walters’ Hairspray was filmed in the ‘Hairdo Capital Of The World’ – Baltimore. Very fitting for the musical! Head to the suburbs of Highlandtown and Hampden, where the formstone clad houses are little changed from the film’s 1960s setting.

3. Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts- Jaws

The 1975 Jaws’ filming location was in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Many of the key locations in the film remain and you can go visit them on your travels! Take the Chappaquiddick Island Ferry, where the Mayor first voices concern, and visit the Joseph Sylvia State Beach where panic sets in after the sighting of the great white.

4. Las Vegas, Nevada - Ocean’s Eleven

The Bellagio Hotel & Casino plays a central part in the famous Ocean’s Eleven film. If you remember, it is the part where the Ocean’s Eleven gang rob the vault of the hotel. This is one of the many films to be shot in Las Vegas so I’m sure you will recognise many of the locations.

5. Charleston, South Carolina – The Notebook

The romantic film The Notebook is set in Charleston, South Carolina. This historic town still resembles the film with cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages and pastel antebellum houses. The house which was known as Allie’s house is actually the Boone Hall Plantation and is one of the oldest working plantations in the country. This is a great visit if you get the chance!
